Bullshit Pen

$9.00
sold out

The Bullshit Pen comes ready for gifting in a clear plastic pillow box with gold glitter backing. The pen is medium point, black ink, super smooth and reliable. Clip and trim are gold.

THE TYPEFACE

The typeface used on this pen was drawn by Cole Imperi while she was doing her postgraduate work in typeface design in the now-famous Type@Cooper program at the Cooper Union in NYC. She focused on reviving lettering from headstones. The typeface featured on this pen—called Mausoleum—was built from a rubbing she took of a headstone that was hand carved in the early 1830s in Cincinnati, OH at Spring Grove Cemetery. The style of type (at the time) was called Egyptian Type. This was due to there being a certain cache involved with things being from or associated with Egypt. (At the time, all kinds of things were marketed as being from or connected to Egypt, even if they weren’t, because it would increase sales and interest in the product.) It was a very popular style on headstones from around the 1820s-1840s. In modern day, this style of type is called a Fat Face.

THE PHRASE

Working with death, dying, grief and loss over the last 15 years has illustrated a common experience many people have. When a Shadowloss or Death occurs, for many people, it suddenly makes it SO much easier to see what is really important, and what isn’t. Many grievers also find an emboldened ability to say ‘no’ to what doesn’t matter after a loss. Loss of all kinds often brings clarity about things, wanted or not.

“I don’t have time for bullshit” embodies this sentiment.

You might know a special griever in your life that would resonate with this statement….it’s a way to say “hey, I see you” in a way many other sympathy cards and notes just don’t.

These pens have been shipped around the world since they first launched! Gifted to grievers, friends, coworkers and clients, they seem to be just the right gift for just the right person in your life.
